IPL: Permutations and Combinations
By the end of today, game 45 will be done with and only 11 will remain for the league stage.
Rajasthan Royals is playing their 12th and Deccan have already played out 12. Rest all teams will be 11-matches old by the end of the game running.
If we consider Mumbai winning tonight, which is pretty certain, the next scripted sides could qualify for the semis.
Mumbai Indians As said, if they win today, they’ll have 16 points and no one in this world would deny them a place in semis with they possessing 3 more games under their belt.
Now the selection looks difficult. But this is what I feel.
Royal Challengers Bangalore This side was pretty certain for a birth before their poor run started. They’ve ended that run with a splendid win against KKR and now look on the board for a semis. They play Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians, and all three are difficult to beat, but they are known to such positions in the past and have done particularly well in these scenarios.
Delhi Daredevils The most consistent team of all IPL. They were in semis the first season, the second season and now look very much definite. The lose against KXIP have made them a bit grounded, but they look very certain for the semis.
Rajasthan Royals/ Kolkata Knight Riders I am a no RR fan neither KKR, but these are the sides looking in contention for sure. Yeah there are Deccan and Chennai too but both the latter face KXIP and hence as KXIP has been spoiling the parties of people around, I think anything is possible. But RR have an upper hand with 12 points and look firm even after the loose against MI today. KKR also need to win all, but as KXIP is the catalyst, things could be different.
So, the last place looks pretty undecided now – KXIP the reason. And remember, though RR have the most points, they have played 12 games too. Nevertheless, looks now that IPL will get more interesting.
So watch out and keep visiting
